Justified

Justified on FX is my new favorite TV show. The show is based on novels by Elmore Leonard.

Timothy Olyphant plays US Marshal Raylan Givens. Givens is cut from the same cloth as Olyphant's Deadwood character, Seth Bullock, but I like this character even more. He is almost like an Old West lawman plucked from the 19th century and deposited in modern day rural Kentucky.

Givens has a stone-cold yet charming way of talking people down. He certainly knows how to handle himself and a weapon. He speaks very directly in a hyper-polite manner, augmented by a tendency to back up his quiet words with sudden, brief violence. It also helps that he has plenty of personal demons to battle, including an outlaw father, an interesting ex-wife (for whom he may still carry a torch), and anger issues. All this makes for a character I can care about, played by an actor who nails the subtleties of a complex portrayal.

Eclipse Coming

The first official Eclipse trailer was released today. Ooooo!

I'm already busy on June 30, but it might be fine to avoid all those CRAZY Twi-Hards. Oh wait...I'm one of them.

Remember Me

My new Twilight obsession has spilled over into a celeb crush on Rob Pattinson. His new movie, Remember Me, opens Friday. There are several preview clips, but this one is my favorite. I like Emilie DeRavin's line after she takes his wallet out of his pocket: "Your middle name is Keats? Yeah, your parents are pretentious as hell."

I hope that this movie will show Rob's true acting talent, which wasn't very evident in Twilight or New Moon. If not, at least he'll be nice to look at.
