Happy 39th, honey!
This is Brad during the demo of our basement last fall. This is pretty much how he looks every weekend lately, since he and Rod are working non-stop on our remodel project. These used to be his favorite shorts, but now he's only allowed to wear them for yard work and such.
He found the drawing under some paneling, which had to be at least 30 years old. Funny!

Bunny Ears!
Chase requested a bunny cake for Easter, which Susan was able to deliver quite nicely. Connor was quite taken with it. How much you wanna bet he asks for a Darth Vader cake on his next birthday?

Irene's French Exhitibion
My friend and mentor Irene Meltzer Richard has a photographic exhibit running from April 14-Ma 15 at Le Poulailler, a gallery in Lille, France. Titled "Apt. 615/Daily Views," it records a year of changes & staying the same from the window of her apartment in Manhattan's Upper West Side. I wish I could be there with her window shopping for shoes.
There are so many things I love about Irene, including things like this, which are so far from my usual experiences. I've learned so much from her, like how to live civilly, how to stir up some dust, how to bring art into everyday life, and how to stage a fight scene.
Click here to see the images on exhibit.

Feather in My Cap
Here's a little good news to spread around: I was chosen as one of two recipients of this year's Adjunct Faculty Award for Excellence. This is a big deal at BSC, and I'm very honored.
My co-worker, John Berry, nominated me - thanks John!. I got a framed certificate, at $250 check, and this beautiful piece of hardware, which looks terrific in my office.

Wolf Scout
Dylan has been working for a few months on his Wolf badge, which he received tonight at his Cub Scout Pack meeting. My dad or Curt usually takes him to these meetings since I work every Monday night. I think he looks handsome in his uniform. We always make sure he wears it when we go door-to-door selling popcorn and candy. He's irresistible!

It Was 20 Years Ago Today
Well, not today, but 20 years ago next month (seriously??) I graduated from high school. We just found out that Rift is playing for my high school reunion. I guess now I'll have to go!
Here's a pic of me at the last Centahna practice of the 1986-87 season. Wish I still had that Rick Springfield concert t-shirt...

On This Day In History...
Seventeen years ago (1990) Brad and I got engaged. Yes, on Friday the 13th. I guess it was a lucky day for us! Here's a very funny picture from around that time.
Tonight we spent the night at Marcy & Ryan's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and so fun. Even her JFK dancers got to dance at the reception. We didn't take the camera, so I don't have any pictures to post. I hope Friday, April 13th is lucky for them, too.

Blue Man Group
Last night Brad and I got to do something we don't do very often anymore: attend a big concert. Blue Man Group was at the Fargodome on their Megastar 2.0 Tour. It was a multi-media, mulit-sensory concert experience, including text messages to audience cell phones.
Here's a video clip that demonstrates the humor they work into their act. It also includes the highlight of the show for me: a version of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love". Guest vocalist Adrian Haley wore an awesome dress that was lit up in bands of colors, which were mimicked on all the video screens.
Mike Relm was the opening act. He was only one guy, but he nearly stole the whole show. He's a scratch DJ with crazy skills. The best part was that he scratches video with his audio in real time. Amazing! This played out really well on the giant video screens. The best segment of his set was a bit from "Office Space". This one's not as good as the set we saw, but here's a clip:
While I enjoyed the show and was very glad to be on a date at a concert, I couldn't help wishing a few times that I was at a Justin Timberlake concert...

They're Home!
Welcome home, Mom and Dad!
Just as it delayed their departure at New Year's, the weather played havoc with their return. Dad described the last leg of their trip on Tuesday, from Pierre to the ND border, as the worst driving in all his 40 years of criss-crossing the country.
Here they are in front of their RV/home in AZ:
Here they are on Highway 1 when they took a trip up the Pacific coast in California:
Here they are with their friends at happy hour:
They really seemed to enjoy their time down there. I'm glad they could realize this dream, but we missed them terribly! How selfish of me...

What Goes Around
Justin Timberlake
This is the song that I can't get out of my head right now. It's so smooth, and the chorus really does go around and come back around.
The video is a piece of art in itself, in the vein of Michael Jackson's epic video for "Thriller". It's a nine minute cinematic event complete with a real movie star, Scarlett Johansson. I realize that she is a renowned beauty, but I'm not that impressed. Justin, on the other hand, has grown up NICELY.
Or watch this one if you're like me and just love to watch him move:
