Chase the TV Star

Our 3 1/2-year-old nephew, Chase, appeared in his second TV news story this week. He's one of the youngest, if not the youngest, people in the state to have an insulin pump. Gary and Susan say that the pump is a huge improvement over the 4+ insulin shots per day they used to have to administer.

Click here for the video clip. I just wish they showed him talking because he's pretty cute when he talks.

Happy Birthday, Shari

Happy birthday, my friend! You are my most devoted and regular reader, so half the stuff on this blog is directed at you.

This was always one of my favorite photos of us, at Lillith Fair in 1997.

I hope you can make it back for a visit again soon!

Happy Birthday, Curt

Here's to my little bro. He always takes the week off around his birthday. When I asked what he had planned for this week, he said he had a long "honey do" list. I am very grateful to him for caring for the boys every Monday this past season while I worked at Just For Kix. He is better at putting them to bed than anyone else!

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night

Saturday night was super fun at the Silver Dollar street dance in Mandan. Rift was playing, and they sounded great and put on a fun show. I got to meet up with a couple of friends, one of whom suggested we leave our cars and walk down to the dance. From the west end of Main Street. In my four-inch heels.

My right foot needed a band-aid the next day, but it was worth it because they are kick-ass shoes.

Anyway, I guess we were a record crowd that night, and I'm not surprised. It was CRAZY trying to get a drink at the bar inside. The bar owner told Brad that he hadn't prepared for such a big crowd and ran out of all beer except for Budweiser. It was a beautiful night, which helped a bit, but I suspect the main reason for the big night was the good band.

Cast Away

Dylan's cast came off today, one day shy of four weeks since he broke it. Overall, it was an easy healing process. The doc said because of his age and because he is still growing, in six months or a year the break won't even show up on an x-ray anymore. What a relief that he healed so quickly and so well. I was also very glad that he could have a real bath tonight and properly wash his arm and hand. The cast was pretty dirty and stinky. Dylan had talked about taking it home, but, thankfully, he changed his mind when he saw it.

Kick It

Soccer started Monday. This is Dylan's fourth year. Connor is old enough to play this year, so I outfitted him with shoes, shin guards and socks. He looked so adorable that I took a bunch of pictures.

I really like soccer - it's great exercise, and small people are not at such a disadvantage. In the past, Parks & Rec soccer has been loose and disorganized, but they are off to a much better start this year. It was quite an enjoyable evening.

Fly Away

Fly away little bird.
The saddest song I ever heard
was the one I wrote you in my heart
that never made it to the world.
